Anthony Davis has played for the Lakers since his trade from the Pelicans in 2019
Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Anthony Davis’ passion for basketball started at an early age as he joined his high school team and played as a starter for all four years at Perspective Charter School. He was quite short during this time and therefore his playmaking abilities weren’t as impressive as nowadays. However, he experienced a sharp growth spurt during his junior year and rose to 6 foot 8 inches in stature.
Similarly to how the great Michael Jordan received copious amounts of attention during his high school career, Davis began to garner numerous awards and titles and eventually committed to Kentucky in 2010. All eyes were on him as he marked the start of his college basketball career with the Wildcats.
At Kentucky he was under head coach John Calipari who noticed his talent and super-human abilities in each matchup. At this point the power forward’s body had grown so much that his wingspan and height were seemingly unmatchable by other players. Because of his elite athleticism and obvious gift for the game, Davis was drafted by the big leagues in 2012 as a first overall pick for the Hornets. Nowadays fans know him well for being the Lakers’ shining centerman and pushing the organization to appear as favorites in top NBA picks each week, but few know that he got his start in New Orleans. It was there that Davis refined his skills, becoming NBA Rookie of the Year and making the Rookie All Star team in his first year playing professional basketball.
Since then, the 6 foot 10 inches player has racked up an impressive number of accolades including 7x NBA All-Star and NBA Champion. With Lebron by his side, he helped lead LA to their 17th Finals title in 2020. He’s undoubtedly one of the Lakers most valuable players and contributes to their overall success on the court in huge ways.

Just shy of 28 years old, Davis has a whopping net worth of $30.4 million and continues to acquire more and more sponsorships/endorsements each year. As far as his personal life goes, Davis is currently in a relationship with his long-time girlfriend, Marlen P. Although rumours have circulated surrounding a possible engagement and future wedding, there has been no official date set as of late. Davis is good friends with other fellow players such as Chris Paul and Lebron James. Some celebrities such as star footballer David Beckham and even actor Jack Nicholson are known to attend Lakers’ matches as huge supporting fans. Nowadays, Davis has his eyes set on bringing an 18th Championship to Los Angeles and, by the looks of the season so far, no competitor can stop him.
